Rules & Regulations


1. The festival is open to microfilms made in any part of the world.

2. The maximum duration of the microfilm is 5 minutes (including credits).

3. The Festival & Screening will be on 19th and 20th February 2022.

4. Regular Deadline: October 20, 2021 | Late Deadline: November 30, 2021 | Extended Deadline: January 25, 2022.

5. Award Ceremony: April 4

6. There will be no time bar for the production of works.

7. Promotional films are not eligible for submission in IMFFK 2021.

8. By submitting your work, you grant the Grafix Festival, permission to showcase your submission at the IMFFK 2021.

9. There are no restrictions on the number of submitted works. However, a separate entry form and entry fee is required for each film that is submitted.

10. All films must be submitted in their original version, with subtitles in English..

11. Movies will be projected in PAL and not in NTSC.

12. There are 4 categories in the festival, such as open category, theme based category (Theme: Global friendship), student category and exhibition category.

13. Student category is reserved for regular students (not for film school students).

14. A selection committee appointed by the organizers will select micro-films to the final round.

15. The selection committee can suggest films for screening in sections other than those applied for.

16. The director of the festival has the power to include any film at his discretion.

17. The IMFFK-2021 reserves the right to refuse entries.

18. Once selected a film may not be withdrawn from the program.

19. The decision of the jury will be final and binding on all the participants.

20. Any legal dispute will be settled with the jurisdiction of Thrissur district in Kerala state, India.


1. The digital files should be in (Screening format) full HD (1920 x 1080), 2K, 4K resolution with audio in stereo, 25fps, actual resolution for projection.

2. Properly filled up a submission form.

3. Director's headshot (digital, 200 dpi min.) and Bio

4. Poster and film stills.

Entry Fee:

The Entry before Regular Deadline (October 20): Rs.500

The Entry after regular deadline and before Late Deadline(Nov 10): Rs.750

The entry after late deadline and before extended Deadline(Jan 21): Rs.1000

The entry fee for 'Student Category' for all deadlines: Rs.500

All the above are to be received by IMFFK2021 on or before 4 pm IST on 30th November, 2021. Those lacking any of the requirements specified above will be excluded from the festival



The festival is being organized by Grafix, which had pioneered the idea of a campus film festival in Kerala, India by organizing a Campus Film Festival in 2001. The festival offers filmmakers a platform to display their talents and share new ideas with the society.

Regulations for Participation

1. There are distinct regulations covering participation in the Festival. The contestants are expected to adhere strictly to these regulations. Any violation of the regulation may forfeit their chances of participating.

2. The decision of the jury will be final and binding on all the participants.

3. An application to the festival automatically binds the applicant to the rules and regulations.

Eligibility of Entries

The entries eligible for shall satisfy the following necessary condition for participation in the festival.

1. The entries must be original works of art and should not be found guilty of Plagiarism or Piracy.

2. The applicant must be entitled to the rights of the entry and if acting as an agent and/or on behalf of the producer a written document that entitles him/her it to the same, if and when demanded.

3. The maximum duration of the microfilms will be Five minutes (including credits) and in the Exhibition Category short film's duration will be 5 to 15 minutes

Version and Subtitles

1. All films must be submitted in their original version, with subtitles in English.

2. Each entry must be the original work of the entrant and shall not infringe on any copyright or any other right of any other individual, institution or organization.

3. It is the responsibility of the entrant to obtain all necessary agreements and permissions regarding all contents like actors, story, music, sound or images well in advance.

4. Each entrant agrees that the Organizers will not be held liable for any copyright infringements perpetrated by him/her or his/her micro-films.


1. The proposed date of the festival and screening of micro-films will be19th and 20th February, 2022 at Kochi, it will be depend upon Government permission as per the time of the pandemic situation (Covid-19))

2. In case, the venue will not be permitted by the authorities due to the pandemic situation at that time, the festival will be held through online platforms.

3. By submitting your micro-film into the International Microfilm Festival in Kochi (IMFFK 2021), you expressly acknowledge that you are the rightful authorized person to submit the films and agree that you shall be bound by the terms & conditions.

4. The festival selection committee selects 500 final round films from all categories for the festival screening, if a film has been selected, the filmmaker will be notified via email.

5. In a special screening, the venue jury selects fifty micro-films for the competition category from the final round films, the filmmaker will be notified via email, and eventually the officially selected micro-films will be listed on the festival website /social media profiles under Official Selections, you can use the festival logo on your poster.

6. All films selected as final round entrants can compete for the Viewer's Choice Award; if they want; in this case the producer must grant to Grafix all sorts of non exclusive, internet and digital rights/license to distribute the program in digital formats

7. All submissions must have English subtitles.

8. The IMFFK 2021 is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted for promotional purposes of the festival. The producer submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements, rules and regulations.

9. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the IMFFK 2021, from and against all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred because of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, and publicity.

10. Films submitted without the correct fees or proper submission media may be deemed ineligible at the discretion of the IMFFK 2021 festival director or programming director. The festival does not cover any of the expenses incurred by the filmmaker..

11. IMFFK 2021 may without advance notice amend these Rules & Terms from time to time. Each such amendment shall become effective immediately. It is the filmmaker’s responsibility to periodically check for updates of these Rules & Terms.


1. All filmmakers understand and accept that if their film is selected / accepted for screening at the film festival, they grant full and unrestricted permission for IMFFK 2021 to screen the film at times of the festival's choice.

2. The Filmmaker accepts and understands that the festival will do everything possible to present the films in the best possible manner, but the festival (IMFFK 2021) is not responsible for any malfunctions during the presentation of the production at its festival screening.

3. All entries are carefully pre-screened before the public showing to assure that the screenings do perform to the industry standards. The Festival (IMFFK 2021) assumes no responsibility for any technical difficulties in the presentation of this video of the actual event.

4. The Filmmaker understands that the festival will take every possible measure to protect and control the viewing of their entry/ screener link. The festival assumes no liability whatsoever for theft, copyright violations

5. The Film Festival (IMFFK 2021) reserves the complete right to make changes in the program dates and times and to possibly not screen the film, despite its being selected for screening.


1. The jury is divided into two distinct panels, remote jury and venue jury.

2. The remote jury screens the competition films in the private screenings.

3. The film, which receives the maximum votes from the remote jury, which includes acclaimed directors, actors, techno-savvy professionals and media personalities world-wide (+200 film personalities), will be awarded the Best Film of the Festival.

4. All films selected as final round entrants can compete for the Viewer's Choice Award

5. The producer of the final round entrant film who wants to compete for the viewer's choice awards must grant to Grafix all sorts of non exclusive, internet and digital rights/license to distribute the program in digital formats (YouTube, Facebook etc.). However the producer of the micro-film will be having every right to upload their creations to digital platforms after two months of streaming the film and also have the rights to participate in other festivals anywhere anytime, all legal rights and copyright remains with the producer of the film.

6. The person whose entry in the contest gets the most votes from the viewers wins the Viewer's choice awards. It will be awarded according to the rating received in the App for each.

7. The venue jury screens the competition films during a special screening in the festival and decides other awards.

8. The members of our jury belong to a network of professionals, with years of experience in the industry. The quality standard of our festival is very high and only awards the best films, so the winners can be very proud of their achievement. We believe our film festival will give filmmakers a chance to showcase their work to a wide range of audience.

9. The only winner from each category chosen by the judges shall receive the awards.

10. All the award winners who would be unable to attend the awards ceremony of IMFFK 2021 will be contacted by the festival organizing team to have their Certificates/ Mementos /Awards delivered to them.
